CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FROM THE LAURIER WOMEN’S CAUCUS FOR THE POSITION OF WOMEN’S FACULTY COLLEAGUE FOR 2015-2016
WATERLOO CAMPUS ONLY. Please note that the Brantford incumbent’s term expires in 2016.
We write to invite nominations from the Women’s Caucus (consisting of all female full-time and contract faculty and professional librarians) for one faculty member with tenure, or librarian with continuing appointment, to fill the position of Women’s Faculty Colleague for the Kitchener and Waterloo campuses.
The position of Women’s Faculty Colleague was created in 2000 on the recommendation of the Joint University/Association Employment Equity Advisory Committee, with the agreement of the University and WLUFA. A second position was created in 2011 to serve the Brantford campus.
The position of WFC provides support and information to all faculty on issues affecting women faculty such as pregnancy/parental leave, reasonable course assignment, available supports for women around harassment/discrimination, etc. The position reports jointly to WLUFA and the Vice-President: Academic.
Each incumbent receives one one-term course relief per academic year in recognition of the demands of the position. At least one of the two incumbents must have tenure. The position may be renewed for a second year. Please see the job description: Womens Faculty Colleague roles & responsibilities
Nominations should be submitted by May 30, 2015 to the attention of the WLUFA office by return e-mail. Nominations should indicate that the person nominated is aware of the nomination and has agreed to let her name stand.
After nominations have been received, an election will be held by the Women’s Caucus. The results of the election will be forwarded to the Executive of WLUFA so that it may recommend a candidate to the President.
